My name is Ellie Samuel, I'm a keen walker and a Summer Mountain Leader based in Cheltenham. My love for the outdoors began when I was 14 years old and spontaneously decided I wanted to climb Kilimanjaro. I signed up to an expedition company which gave me two years to train and pay for the trip. In this time I trained with the group I was travelling with, in the Brecon Beacons and ran fundraisers to gather all the funds. Thankfully all the hard work paid off and at 6:00am on July 22nd 2013, aged 16 I successfully summated the roof of Africa. From that day I felt so inspired by the expedition leader and all the local guides, I decided that, that was what I wanted to become.I am now 19 years old and taking my Summer Mountain Leader Assessment with in May 2016, taking me one step closer to my dream of becoming an expedition leader. I plan to go onto complete my International Mountain Leader by the time I am 22.Life in the outdoors is becoming more and more like second nature to me. I cannot get enough of meeting all the other outdoor enthusiasts while seeing all the worlds' hidden gems. What is not to love about that!
